Chess Calendar
original art
This project, a fun take on design calendars, has the primary purpose of operating as an artwork while also serving as a functional calendar.
Pages of this calendar depict a group of colorful characters which are, in fact, an original take on chess figures. On each page, these one-of-a-kind chess pieces walk the audience through the year by changing their colors with the seasons. For example, the Queen is tender green like fresh leaves in the spring, while the Bishop is bright pink like summer flowers. The dates along the figures’ contours emphasize their biomorphic shapes and add the main element of any calendar on the page. On the bottom of every page, the featured chess piece is highlighted in its starting position on the chessboard.
