The long walk

This project is a reimagination of a book cover design for the classic Stephen King novel The Long Walk. To make the cover stand out, I stepped away from the conventional design of horror book covers that often involves photography of grotesque subject matter hidden within dramatic shadows combined with haunting typefaces.

Instead, I created a two-dimensional illustrative design that is crisp and simple, yet full of symbolism. Every element on the cover tells a part of the story which fans of the novel can recognize and appreciate, while providing new readers a context through which they will realize those metaphors as they progress deeper within the text.

The Long Walk: a competition that ends when there is only one man who is still walking. How much time is left until he can stop? Will he be the winner of the grand prize or will he join the pile of bodies of his peers? His time is running out.
